Sheriff Callie Inspired Birthday

Holiday's birthday has definitely become my once a year big creative outlet!  Especially with going through infertility, I feel especially blessed to get to celebrate the wonderful child I do have!  I thought for sure we were doing a unicorn birthday this year and I had grand visions of pretty pinks and golds, silver platters piled high with pastel macaroons.  It was lovely in my mind.  However, at some point, the gears in her little brain began turning and she just HAD to have a Sheriff Callie party and she most definitely "needed" to have pony rides and a little barnyard petting zoo.  The problem being-- that's kind of what we did last year.  Last year was The Bennett County Fair and at some point I got really horse happy and started putting horse silhouettes on everything.  I was careful to not go too westerny, but STILL-- this was going to be a major creative challenge for me to create a Sheriff Callie party that was unique and different from last year's party!  I think I succeeded, but I can't say for sure since I was the mastermind and not an attendee.  I DO know that fun was had by all and the birthday girl was quite pleased and at the end of the day... that's all that truly matters!  (A special thanks to Michelle Hanks of Schwager & Hanks Photography for volunteering her time to capture the day!  If you live in the Dallas Fort Worth area, be sure to check out their website*)!

I know I say this every year, but I REALLY mean it-- this has got to be my favorite It's A Mary Cake to date!!! Seriously????  How amazing is this.  I'm posting a few more pics of all of the details... If you live in the Dallas Fort Worth area and you're not getting your cakes from Miss Mary-- you don't know what your party is missing!

Perfectly tied fondant bandanna-- don't even get me started on the amount of detail on the belt buckle!  This cake was truly a SHOW STOPPER!

The lighting on the covered patio for the Food Table was absolutely awful to take any pictures.  AND in order to keep the flies off the food-- it's all covered up!  The menu was Smoked Turkey, Smoked Brisket, Mac & Cheese, Corn on the Cob, Hot Dogs, Potato Salad and Rolls.  I'm admittedly sad that I didn't get to adequately capture this area, you'll have to trust that it was fabulous!

Disposable Pie Tins instead of plates is still one of my favorite party hacks!  I always order a case of 100 because they are AWESOME all year long for keeping kids crafting projects and activities contained!

Truth be told, I had big plans to re-create Ella's Saloon, but I ran out of time-- but these plastic milk bottles were still crazy cute and the kids loved them!

I had the idea that I wanted to create a little enclosed play area and this turned out to be a huge HIT with all of the under 5 crew!  The teepees were full and many campfires were "made" throughout the entire party!

Finding "Gold"  (aka Pyrite, Fool's Gold) turned out to be the highlight of the party!  There was a crowd around this station for the entire party! I buried the Pyrite in 75 lbs of play sand-- there was a big bucket of mini sand tools and little Loot bags to put their treasure in!

Another shot of this table... pretty hard to keep perfect on a windy day, but love how it turned out! I did the same thing last year, but this year added some inexpensive yards of fleece to make the hay a little more comfy to sit on!
