Holiday will be 5 this fall. It's so bittersweet to think about. To me, 5 is the official entrance into BIG GIRL territory. I want to dress her up like my little babydoll forever. We have a pretty good system down of choosing her clothes. I do take her thoughts and opinions into account, but for the most, she likes the clothes I pick. When we're going out, I usually pull 2 or 3 outfits out of her closet and let her choose between them. She feels like she's getting power to choose and I'm pre-selecting for appropriateness for the occasion-- it's a win win!
I admittedly get a little nervous thinking about moving into the "big girl" clothing section. Fortunately for me, Holiday is on the petite side, so I think we'll have another full year, maybe two in toddler sizes, but I know the older she gets, the more my options for classy, sweet girl clothing will dissipate. This is one of the many reasons I love Matilda Jane Clothing so much! Just this past month, the beloved founder of Matilda Jane Clothing, Denise DeMarchis passed away. Denise summed up her clothing label as, "It's all about keeping a little girl....a little girl". I love that Matilda Jane makes clothing for girls for the whole time and ages that they are GIRLS and not women! Classy, adorably, age-appropriate, quality clothing with beautiful details.
For today's blog, I want to move away from the tiny styling I always do and showcase how versatile Matilda Jane can be for your older girls too! I styled my 14 year old niece, Zoe for today's post! She's really at the top of the sizing for the 435 (tween) collection, so we did a mix of 435 and ladies MJC pieces. She (mostly) picked out all of the pieces herself, but I encouraged her on a few and she genuinely fell in LOVE with them all. I purposefully wanted to show how this spring/summer collection can so easily transition into your Back to School wardrobe. The BEST PART is that all of these pieces featured will be going 40% off BEGINNING JULY 6-- don't miss out! A special thank you to my sweet friend, Jeanine Phelps from Bella Jewel Photography for so perfectly capturing this collection-- she is SERIOUSLY talented: www.bellajewelphotography.com
